AbstractThis study conducted in Nam Tong watershed, Facung District, Vientiane province of Lao People Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) examines the effect of the Poverty alleviation and sutainable Natural Resources Management Plan implemented in the area few years back. This study has mainly focused on assessment of the achievement of poverty alleviation and sustainable resources management jprogram, particularly improving living condition of local people and conservation of natural resources programs. The study folloes before and after-stuation technique to compare the beneficiaries livelihioods before and after porjetimplementation. The findings of the study reveal that, the poverty alleviation and sustainable resources management program has contributed in various aspects of improving living condition of local people and reservation of natural resources programs. This included many factors as occupation, crops, liverstock and household's income, households' expenditure and natural resources consumption, In general, as the effect of project more non-farm opportunities have arisen in the study area giving more opportunity to the people to increase income. there seems to be not much adverse pressure on the natural resources of the watershed. It was also found the people within watershed area have improving living condition and adopting new techniques and technologies in their practices. So this program in encouraging for formulation and implementation to developmental appropriate activities to apply in natural and socio-economic resource status in Nam Tong watershed. Some recommendations on strengthening the project implementation for better impacts are suggested.
