AbstractThe Inspection and Maintenance Division of Expressway and Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (ETA) is responsible for expressway maintenance. Currently, ETA collects and accesses their pavement condition data. However, the existing procedures do not provide enough information for planners to make decisions in network-level management. Expressway Pavement Maintenance System (EPMS) developed in this study provides the systematic condition inSpection and condition rating procedures for pavement and expansion joints for ETA. Pavement Condition Rating (PCR) is the developed pavement condition assessment method. Predominant distresses information is the input for this method. PCR values is developed based on PCI deduct values. The method outcome is PCR value which identifies the service level of particular pavement section. Expansion joints are evaluated in term of damage and level of damage. EPMS incorporates the presentation capability of GIS to present its outputs in a map display format. By using GIS, the developed system is able to integrate, manage, and display the condition data as well as its spatial relationship.
