| Abstract | This dissertation studies the corporate performance of SOEs privatized from 1998 to 2005 in Vietnam, and the differences in corporate culture and employee commitment between these privatized firms and SOEs. It us es a quantitative approach to exam ine whether corporate culture and employee commitment influenc e the performance of privatized firms . Data was collected using a structured questionnaire. 790 valid questionnaires were collected from managers and staff working for SOEs and privatized compan ies in Ho C hi M inh City. The analysis indicates that there is no significant difference in financial performance between SOEs and privatized firms. P rivatized firms perform better than SOEs in employee satisfaction and customer focus. They are more people and market oriented, have significantly lower normative commitment , and significantly higher continuance commitment than SOEs. Organization integration, employee satisfaction and customer focus are key determinants in explaining the financial performance o f privatized firms. The study was conducted in Vietnam using purposive sampling. Findings suggest that privatized firms with corporate culture emphasizing organization integration , increasing employee satisfaction , and customer focus positive ly impact s cor porate performance. |
