Abstract | Project Control including cost and schedule control has been practicing for years in Oil and Gas industry. Knowing the theory and how to apply it in project is an art of Project Control Analysis. It required not only education of technical background related to the project but also Project Management knowledge of a practitioner to support management to deliver project scope within time frame and budget. Vietnam has recently faced shortage in power supply and caused delay in economic growth. Block B is located offshore South West of Vietnam is a resource to fill the gap of power in the country. In a meanwhile, in Thailand, there had been a development of Platong Gas 2 with similar scope to provide power supply to the Kingdom of Thailand. The student of this paper had opportunity to work with Platong Gas 2 in the Gulf of Thailand and was able to see the benefit of applying the concept of Project Control to Vietnam project and avoid the mistakes causing delay in schedule and cost overrun. By studying Platong Gas 2 case, the student will layout advantages and disadvantages of the practice and recommendation to management to improve the project outcomes. |
