Abstract | Software engineering is about thetheories, techniques and tools for large scale software development. This assignment is not about software engineering theory, but is rather an oversimplified demonstration of how to use those theories in developing a real-world software application.Billing is an essential part of the activity of any organization that produces services for its clients. Famous examples are the electricity corporations, telecommunications companies and the like. It is desired to develop an automated (computerized) system of the existing manual system used to produce the monthly electricity bills in city X. Bills must be printed in the end of every month by the computer, and all related computations must be done bythe computer based on all readings, payments and adjustments which are provided to the system on a monthly basis. The goal of this project is to demonstrate the application of software engineering techniques in the early activities of determining the requirements and outlining the design of anelectricity billing system. The productsarerequirements specifications and an architectural design. These requirements specifications and architectural design can be used for the development of a software which can well fit in the billing system of an electricity distribution company. Furthermore, the product provides an insight of software functionality of the billing system and how different subsystems can be integrated together to make a complete system. |
