Abstract | Multinational Corporations usually see Asian market as lucrative one. In this region economies are growing. Due to booming economic activities, there is huge demand for energy and electrical equipments. Schneider Electric has strong foothold in South East Asian Market but Laos is still untapped. Laos having tremendous potential of hydro power and is attracting huge amount of foreign direct investment. Due to all these developments, Schneider sees the potential of Laos as next open market for electrical products. Also there is huge amount of investment flowing from Thailand to Laos. Laos also has cultural synergy with Thailand. Based on these, Schneider Thailand has decided to tap Laos market. The company initiated Business development for expansion to Laos in May 2007. This project report includes a portion of the initiative of Schneider Electric to expand to Laos. It incorporates the market study conducted by the business development team along with external consultants. It includes the detail study and analysis of macro environment, market opportunity and other relevant factors. At the end, entry mode mix are being identified and evaluated. Based on the company goals and existing situations in Laos entering strategy is proposed. Also sales channels and organization are being suggested based on the selected entry mode. |
