AbstractService sectors in Thailand currently represent 45% of GDP and 37% of the labor force. Thailand is now on the urge of expanding the sector in order to stay competitive in the world’s economy. Therefore , there is a need to study on employees in service sector in Thailand in order to identify what motivates them to perform well. It is the goal of this project to understand the nature of employees working under different service sector s on whether they preference is towards cash or non- cash and which factor among both cash and non- cash that best motivate them. The project focuses on factors that can lead to an increase in employees’ motivation, commitment and job satisfaction at workplace. The empirical findings obtained imply that young Thai employees in service sectors have more preference towards cash as compared to older age group and that female has more preference towards non-cash. The discussion on findings of cash and non- cash has also been explained in relation to Thai culture as culture can be helpful in determining what works well at workplaces in Thailand. The result can be used by Human Resources Managers in service sectors as a basis in designing suitable incentive packages for organizations in the future.
