| Abstract | In recent years, along with the situation of climate change and urbanization rate that increased rapidly, Ha Tien town -a local of Kien Giang province -is faced with local inundation. Although this situation only appeared in recent years, but the level of flooding is becoming more serious and this is a hot issue and a challenge for local development. Therefore, this research is focused on assessment of inundation in Ha Tien urban, and analysis aspects related to the causes of flooding and from which proposed directions to remedy this situation. The study used mixed methods of analysis, combining qualitative and quantitative analysis, the annual reports combined with data resources collected through the survey by the questionnaire, interview and observation. The results show that, the causes of inundation in the central region of Ha Tien town are determined by combination of factors such as rainfall, tides, low topography and the weak capacity of the drainage system. However, outside the factors by the natural conditions, the main cause of this situation is due to the drainage system, including factors such as low draining capacity of the system, building and drainage system connections asynchronous, management capacity of local drainage is limited and weak. To minimize local inundation situation for Ha Tien town, this study also suggests that the local government and people should pay more attention to the drainage problems, soon carry out upgraded drainage system and implement these solutions. |
