AbstractGreen space has a great significance not the new urban structure, but also values of cultural,getaway, entertainment for residential to reproduce labor power of people and create establish sustainable living environment.The involvement of the community creates equal and democratic participation between government and community,attracts abundant resources in the community, and contributes to reduce the burden on State’s budget. Therefore, this research aims to assess the current status of planning, management and building of urban green space in Ca Mau city; analyze the roles and characteristics the community participation in development and management of green space in new urban areas, and then propose solutions for more effective community participation.Both secondary data and primary data were employed through different data collection methods such as observation, questionnaire, focus group interview and key informant interview. The study found out that currently, the planning and construction of new urban areas have many shortcomings, largely without the participation of the community in the process of formulation, appraisal and approval of planning. The role of local government, and construction investors in the development and management of green spaces in new urban areas are ineffectiveness. Other external factors such as planning, policies, capital investment, etc. are also important for the mobilization of community participation in the development and management of green space. This study then proposes solutions to enhance community participation in the development and management of green space in new urban areas in Ca Mau city effectively.Due to limited time, this study proposes different cases of community participation to apply new urban administrative-political center.These can be applied in different areas or zones.
