Series Statement
AbstractQuantum dots have been of great interest to researchers since the 1990's due to their property of quantum confinement, which allows for tunable band gaps. They see use in a variety of fields including solar cell technology, medicine, sensing, imaging, lighting and as potential qubits in quantum computing, This research gives a brief introduction to quantum devices, covers the synthesis techniques of quantum dots as part of literature and experimental synthesis of Zinc sulfide quantum dots capped with Chitosan. From the absorption spectrum, the band gap and particle size are calculated. These values are used in computer simulation to plot the 3D wave forms of the eigen states. The applications of the Zinc Sulfide quantum dots are also briefly discussed.
