Abstract | This research is a preliminary study about implementing the automatic electricity meter reading from photos system. The study will be focused on the effective of an algorithm that appropriates for this system. The system can be separated into two main processes; region of interest detection and number recognition. For region of interest detection use the combination of two algorithms called Maximally Stable Extremal Region (MSER) and K¬Nearest Neighbor (k-NN). For number recognition process, the Support Vector Machine (SVM) is used. The system selected one type of meter to test the effective of the algorithms. To improve the system, more algorithms are needed to be added to extend the capability of the system to cover more types of meters |
