Abstract | This research focus on traffic measurement and analysis of both voice and SMS services in the Core network of CDMA 1x-EVDO mobile cellular network in Mongolia. The review consists of the basic traffic measurements, subscriber behavior, CDMA 1x-EVDO system architecture and telecom statistics of Mongolia such as number of subscribers, market, and international call gateway and coverage.Study case and analysis of measured data are presented. Based on traffic measurement, busy hour is studied. The case study also included daily traffic profile, traffic distribution, weekly traffic profile, call failure rate, call drop rate, BHCA, and Voice point to point cost and traffic Skytel between 5 telephone operators such as Mobicom, Railway, Unitel, G-Mobile and Telecom Mongolia. Also SMS drop rate, failure rate, BHSM, SMS subscriber behavior of Skytel and 3 mobile operators such as Mobicom, Unitel and G-Mobile were observed. While all observed traffics have about 7% busy hour concentration, the Busy Hour Concentration of Railway originating and terminating to Skytel was (13%) on one weekday. Total SMS failure rate is 5 times higher than call failure rate in a week. The results of BHCA are high on working days and lower on weekends for all 6 operators. Voice traffic from Skytel’s subscriber to other operators’ subscriber is between 1 to 5 nano Erl. |
