AbstractThe upraising popularity of real-time social networking shows that people are more interested in getting real-time information nowadays. Real-time web is an emerging yet powerful technology for real-time information dissemination. With the implementation of Hybrid push-pull data delivery mode, the latency time between the publication of information and its accessibility to the user is significantly reduced in real-time web. The main goal of this research study is to analyze the role of hybrid push-pull data delivery mode in real-time information flow. In order to achieve this goal, a real-time web application i.e. real-time search engine with hybrid push-pull mode is designed in this research study. Besides hybrid push-pull mode, the proposed system also incorporates other real-time features including Presence information, event driven architecture and time synchronization. Each of these has its own significance in real-time application. Presence system is essential as it gives the prior information of user availability. Similarly, event driven architecture is important since every action of real-world is treated as real-time event and delivered right away asynchronously to the interested party. Finally, time synchronization is done to provide global time reference across entire distributed system and also to manage event ordering.
