AbstractSocial collaboration is an essential component of Massively Multiplayer Online Games (MMOGs). Collaboration is one of the key mechanisms in developing player enjoyment, social learning skills, scheduling and planning activities, negotiating and sharing with each other in this social world of gaming nowadays. Comparatively, tremendous growth of collaborative games enlarges the game play to be somewhat beyond the knowledge of single player contribution. The strategy, tactical decisions and knowledge of playing around game sessions have been improved through collaboration and knowledge sharing. More importantly, many real-time collaborative activities require rapid communication, and verbal communication (i.e., text or voice) is insufficient for several reasons: it lacks context, it is flooded by too many voices, and it is slow and imprecise for communicating the spatial and temporal information required for coordination. This research study focuses on how to effectively use rich non-verbal interaction channels for coordination and collaboration in MMOGs.
