Abstract | This research study proposes to use Market Basket Analysis to analyze the purchasing behavior of customers by concentrating on the relationship of the products that customers often buy together. It applies the association rules of the Apiori algorithm of Data mining. This research took Thai silk Company as the case study. Data used to analyze are the historical sales data collected from January to December in the year 2011. It contains 4,158 bills, 6 product categories, and 59 product types. Three data items which were used for Market Basket Analysis are code of product type, ID of bill, and the amount of product. The result of this study represents the association rules which are the relationships of products that are often bought together. Example of the result is “Handkerchiefs --> scarves”. From this result, the company knows the purchasing behavior of customers that when their customers purchase handkerchiefs, then, they usually buy scarves. As the result, the company can use this data for making marketing strategies such as promotion, product bundling, or recommendation. |
