| Abstract | It becomes necessary that a leading university has a decent website of the university. The first impression of a university is felt from its website. Any collaborator or aspiring student first visits the website of the concerned institution/university to gather more information about the university.As such, the website has to be highly interactive interms of ease of use. In the Asian context, it has been witnessed that most of the university websiteslack proper usability standards. Proper careneeds to be taken in the displayof informationin these websites. In my research study, I performeda task-based usability evaluation of six leading Asian university websites by participants who representedthe real population of users of these websites. The evaluation isfollowed byranking of the six Asian universities on the basis of their composite measures of usability. Reporting of errors in each of the site is done, recommendations against each error is made andat lastsome basic guidelinesare suggested,as a result of the evaluation, to be followed in the displayof information in the websites of universities. |
