Series Statement
AbstractVacuum preloading with combination of fill surcharge has been widely applied as a common and effective method to various soil improvement projects in the world as well as for soil improvement of internal road in Thu Thiem site. In this research, the soil characterization is discussed first, such as the subsoil profile, the correlation between the undrained shear strength and depth, etc. And then the lateral displacement based on the observation data from 06 inclinometers are presented. The processing and analysis of lateral displacement data will be performed to assess the influence of the combination of vacuum pressure and surcharge preloading to adjacent buildings. The correlation between the maximum value of net lateral displacement (δnm) and the distance away from the embankment toe (L) was found. Furthermore, the soil properties and monitoring data in this project were used to cross-check with the NLD-RLS related progressed by Chai et al. (2013) and gave a relatives good fit.
