Abstract | The Urban Mass Rapid Transit (UMRT) No. 2 system is being constructed to meet the needs of the growing population and rapid urbanization, which require more and more public transportation infrastructure. Land subsidence due to groundwater extraction had been observed in Hanoi city since 1990 and some have raised the question of whether or not the UMRT network in Hanoi would be affected by land subsidence. In addition,it have been only a few monitoring stations have been installed and settlement observation data are not accessible to public use. In this study, geotechnical characterization of subsoil profile was performed and the possible of land subsidence due to groundwater drawdown along theUMRT line No.2 in Hanoi city was estimated by using TZP program (Giao, 1997). The subsidence analysis were carried out with drawdown of 2.5m; 5.0m; 10.0m; 15.0m; 20mas boundary condition analysis. The corresponding accumulate subsidence are 0.018m;0.0381m; 0.1001m; 0.1389m; 0.1818m, respectively. The segment from BH20 to BH30 which the soft clay depth is thicker and there is no doubt that effect of subsidence along the UMRT line No. 2 has to be affected, especially where were drawdown occur |
