Abstract | The Cuu Long Basin is a Tertiary Rift Basin located on the southeast offshore Viet Nam , where the main excellent reservoir is found in the fractured granitoid basement. The E&P operations are going on with nearly hundreds of wells drilled in basement each year. However, the number of successful wells which have high commercial value makes up only 30% of total wells. Therefore, the design of borehole orientation i s a vital role in the success of hydrocarbon exploration . In this research, analysis of FMI data was carried out for design of borehole orientation in basement , to minimize the risks and increase the success of exploration and production. The research was conducted for a basement structure (TTD) in Cuu Long basin. FMI analysis is based on data of interpreted fractures from drilled wells . In this study, fractures are integrated in different groups with different geological ideas and their orientation s are plotted on rose diagram s . The rose diagrams of fracture orientation including strike, dip azimuth and dip angle , they absolutely could help to find out the best design of borehole orientation . The result from this study for TTD structure is good and will be applied for the next drilling wells. |
