Abstract | Fracture network connection would play an important role to make a well dry or producing. Fractures form a very complex network, being connected or isolated. Thus, characterization of the Naturally Fractured Reservoir (NFR) is an important task and but it is also. Formation Micro Image (FMI) data can be used to identify, classify and calculate fractures properties, i.e., fracture density, fracture aperture and fracture porosity, but with FMI data alone one cannot find out whether the fractures are open or closed. Fortunately, integration of FMI with Sonic Scanner (SS) data could add solving this issue. In this study, a workflow combining FMI and SS data was developed for evaluation of a NFR, including identification of the fractured zones and fracture properties, which are useful information needed for determining the potential productive zones, potential storage zones, zones for well testing and well completion design. In details, the Sonic Scanner data will be processed and evaluated in Monopole mode for STC slowness and in Stoneley mode for fracture processing help to detect the major open fractures. While, t he FMI data will be processed and then interpreted to identify and classify the fractures based on the morphology classification system. The advanced fractures analysis will calculate the fractures aperture, fracture density and fracture porosity base on the shallow resistivity from the FMI scale image. |
