Series Statement
AbstractCarbonate reservoirs in the Nam Con Son basin have played an important role in the E&P of oil and gas in Viet Nam . The study structure (denoted as D) is located in the southeast of the Nam Con Son basin, where two successful wells were drilled and the carbonate reservoir is considered as main reservoir for future development. D structure is a structurally simple carbonate build - up, which shows no evidence of compartmentalisation, either through fault segmentation or vertically by stratigraphic barriers. Log data across the reservoir confirm that the bulk of the pay consists of high porosity, high permeability with little evidence of changes in carbonate reservoir quality. However the pattern of water saturation (Sw) profile calculated by Archie’s method in a well of the D structure is not satisfactory and namely, the lower gas - leg section (1162 - 1186mMD) have significantly higher water saturation than the upper part (1146.5 - 1162mMD) . To improve estimation of Sw in this study the Height - function method was employed. First, the Height - function was calculated based on SCAL results of 60 samples for a nearby structure (denoted as A). The capillary pressure model constructed was then applied to calculate water saturation for the structure D. In this study, the Brooks – Corey capillary model will be used instead of J - Leverett as usually done with the help of the SHM module in the TECHLOG software.
