AbstractThis research deals with the impacts of implementation of contract property to household policy on income of households in Long-gartang Village. The main objectives of the research were to examine the impact of land reformation on Tibetan rural households out the causes of the impacts resulted from land reformation, and provide recommendations to improve local people's living condition. The contract property to household policy in this research refers to land reformation policy implemented in the end of 70s and after begging of 80s. In the policy, the government redistributed people's properties equally to the households according to the number of members in a household. The research was conducted in the Long gartang Village in Xiahe county, Gannan Tibetan autonomous prefecture, gansu province by interviewing 20 households. The research applied both qualitative and quantitative methods to analyze data of the research. Main findings of the research showed that the contract property to household had both positive and negative impacts to the life of Long gartang Village. The positive impacts include increased motivation of the villagers in their farming work, free to make plan and time arrangement and free exchange of products on the market. The negative sides resulted in income disparity between households of the village and decreased income per capita of the villagers. Based on the findings from this research study, certain recommendations also made to improve the living conditions of local people. The recommendations were included to policy
