AbstractThis research study focuses on the Islamic banking system that is under existence for thepast three decades and is now emerging very rapidly. It describes the principles behind anIslamic bank and the differences that persist between Conventional and Islamic form ofbanking. The study tries to figure out the future prospects of Islamic finance based on thefindings and the historical and current data available.Malaysia has been taken as a case study due to its dual banking system, to look at thegrowth curve of Islamic banks and its future prospects. A survey has been studied toestimate the awareness of Islamic finance in the Australian market and the willingness ofrespondents to invest in it. An interview was conducted with a bank official to get an ideaof the acceptance of Islamic financial products in the market and its possible futuregrowth. Lastly, some drawbacks have been listed down and recommendations have been made toovercome these hindrances. Looking at its development and growth over the years and itscontinuing efforts to make a place in the global world, it can be concluded that the futureseems to be very promising for Islamic finance provided that it understands the needs anddemands of people of varied background.
