Abstract | Due to the commitment China made when joined the World Trade Organization (WTO), Chinese government gradually open the Express Delivery Market. With the entering of the major foreign competitors and the appearance of millions of small median size local corporations, Chinese state-owned Express Delivery industry faces huge opportunities as well as challenges. This research focuses on the competitiveness of the state-owned Chinese Express Delivery industry, which is represented by China Post –EMS. This research also analyses China Post – EMS’s competitors, about their strategy and development. In the industry analysis part, the study is based on the Poter’s Five theory; and the SWOT analysis is used to show the strength, weakness, threat as well as opportunities for the industry. At last, this research suggests some recommendations for the further development of Chinese state- owned express delivery services. Concerning the rapid liberalization and modernization the Chinese market is experiencing, there are some suggestions could contribute to the future development of Chinese state-owned Express Delivery industry. The result of this study indicates that for the further development, Chinese state-owned Express delivery services should learn from its foreign competitors and increase the Price-Service Competitiveness. |
