Abstract | Textile sector is the most important part of the economy of Pakistan. Textile being largest industrial sector generates the country's highest export earnings of about 64%; providing employment of (39%) and contributes 8.5% to GDP. Textile value chain includes Ginning, spinning, weaving, printing and dying, knitting, towelslindustrial textile, Home textile, apparel and Garments. Currently in Pakistan 337 textile mills are working. In spite of one of the largest sector of the economy this sector is in continuous downfall. Although efforts are being made to enhance the improvement of this sector but still more serious efforts are needed to bring this sector in international market on strong footing. Among the textile firms there is concentration of spinning but not on the value added parts of the chain. The purpose of this study is to find if any Advantages can be archived if firms perform their functions in integrated form rather than as a single functioning unit. After comparing the performance of the firms that have degree of integration more than one with the firms that have degree of integration equal to one the conclusion of this research study drawn is that "highly integrated firms perform better than single integrated firms" |
