AbstractThe objective of this research is to find the trends and patterns in FDI inflow in India. This study tried to find out the significant sectors which are attracting FDI in India and the reasons behind such patterns. This study also does a comparative study of inflow with other countries and the flow of FDI in the world. The relationship between FDI and growth is also tested through the cointegration test. Causal relationship between the two is tested through granger causality to test if FDI causes growth or growth causes FDI inflow. The period of 1990 - 2009 has been chosen to make the study and analyze the flow of the FDI over the period. Trends and patterns in the outflow of FDI from India has been studied.
