| Abstract | The purpose of this research is to investigate various elements of organizational culture on knowledge sharing in selected public sector banks branches in Western province of Sri Lanka. Specifically it investigates employees’ perception about the impact of the elements of organizational culture on knowledge sharing, the status of those elements in the organizational culture and to identify the existing barriers for knowledge sharing in selected branches. The elements include trust, collaboration, communication among staff, information system, reward systems, organizational structure, management practices, shared vision and employeeunion.Questionnaire was used for data collection.Gathered data was analysed in descriptive statistics. In overall, collaboration is the most influencedfactoron knowledge sharingand trust and Organizational structure also affect highly. Information systems, sharing a common vision and trust among employees exist at a higher level in the organizational culture.The barriers that employees face mostly in knowledge sharing are workload, unfriendly people and unfavourable attitudes on sharing knowledge. Study suggests arranging social event, publishing magazines and regular meeting would increase the level of existence of those elements in the organizational culture further. |
