AbstractIn an increasingly fast changing world, Big Data technology offers to analyze huge volume of data in a very short time. It brings numerous benefits not only to numeric companies but also to traditional industries and governments. Nevertheless, this new way of collecting and using data is raising numerous issues about privacy. This research aims to evaluate individuals’ awareness and concerns about these privacy issues. A sample of people was asked about their use of internet and their opinion about data collection. The results show that people are aware about privacy issues, but these concerns are not yet transformed into concrete actions. So far, there is no efficient solution offered to customers and citizens to protect their personal data.
