Abstract | Thailand is agricultura l country which contracted with many countries around the world for exporting their agricultural products, and China is one country which created free trade agreement with Thailand. Many years ago, Thailand and China established trade conditions together a bout the agricultural product in 116 items which have tariffs eliminated. This situation made many advantages and disadvantages to each country. In this research studied about the real situation in 2010, including the economical and environmental impacts o f Thailand - China FTA on farmers who grow garlic, onion, and shallot in Chiang Mai province, as the result, the economic in three districts were not the same, in Mae Wang district the farmer’s income before establishment FTA was higher than after opening FT A, in Mae Cheam and Chiang Dao districts the farmer’s income before establishment FTA was less than after opening FTA. Moreover, the environment was not changed too much between before and after establishment FTA. In addition, studying the farmer’s adaptat ion, they adapted to grow the alternative crops such as sweet corn, soybean, and rice. They had another secondary occupation such as day labor, housewives group for making OTOP and other products from the village. At least, the recommendation about the pol icies to making the good way for farmer who impacted from Thailand – China FTA, the government should support the good practice to the farmers which can improve their product to compete with other countries. Moreover, before establishment all FTA in the fu ture should study the effects more than the past . |
