AbstractA weaning m ethod of wild-caugh t snakehead fish fry were conducted in hapas installed in the earthen ponds at AARM field, AIT. Pr elim inary experim ent was presented to investigate the effect of feed controls (tra sh fish only (TF), comme rcial f rog f eed (CFF)) and feed combinations (TF: CFF ratio; 80:20, 60:40, 40:60, 20:80) with the length of day per feed combination f or 30 days. Furtherm ore, experim ent 1 repeated a weaning m ethod, and added lab-m ade fee d (LMF) to diet contro l. The results showed the survival rate and growth perform ances were no significant difference (P> 0.05) am ong treatm ents. Next, experim ent 2 was conducted in aquarium s to evaluate growth perform ances and body com position of fish fed trash fi sh, comm ercial frog feed, and lab-m ade feed for 4 weeks. The result showed survival rate were no si gnificant difference (P>0.05) am ong treatm ents On the other hand, various initial weights and th e diets affected the daily weight gain. The highest daily weight gain was fish fed tras h fish. Finally, experim ent 3 conducted in the hapas installed in the earthen ponds. This ex perim ent compare fish fed trash fish and commercial frog feed on survival rate by usi ng a grading m ethod. The result showed fish fed comm ercial frog feed had survival rate highe r than fish fed trash fish after 30 days. For production econom ics, fi sh fed co mm ercial frog feed were highe r than fish fed trash fish. In conclusion, this weaning m ethod was unsucce ssful in wild-caught snakehead fish fry. Wild-caught snakehead f ry can acclim atize pelleted feed without any feed com binations.
