AbstractThe purpose of this research was to study the factors that influence Willingness to Pay (WTP) for environmental services and mangrove resources in Sirindhorn International Environmental Park (SIEP). Research results are expected to provide recommendations to promote SIEP and formulate guidelines to determine admission fees. A research survey method was employed in this study. The study sample was comprised of 95 tourists who visit this park and 97 local people living around the park. The WTP was determined using travel cost method and contingent valuation method. Factors such as age, average monthly income, travel cost, etc., were analyzed using correlation and multiple regression analysis to predict the willingness to pay equation. For the WTP, there are three factors that affect WTP for environmental services. They are age and marital status which are negatively correlated and are significant at 1% level and 5% respectively, and education level which is positively correlated and significant at 5% level. In addition, there are only two factors that affect WTP for mangrove resources. They are income and family size which are positively correlated and significant at 5% level. For the Maximum WTP, there are two factors that affect Maximum WTP for environmental services. They are income and education level which had positive effects and significant at 1% level. Moreover, only income affects Maximum WTP for mangrove resources and this is significant at 1% level. Results of the study suggest that the government might need to set up admission fees between 28.98 and 45.95 Baht/entry from tourists and set up fees between 6.72 and 10.61 Baht/month from the local people in order to conserve mangrove resources.
