AbstractAnthracnose disease caused by Colletotrichum gloeosporioidesis one of the serious post harvest diseases in mango growing regions of the world. The use of antagonistic microorganisms is a new option for suppression of this disease. The current study evaluated the efficacy of selected antagonistic microorganisms for the control of post harvest anthracnose disease in mango.Three antagonists, three spore concentrations (viz. 1×106, 1×107and1×108spores per ml) and time of application were evaluated in a factorialexperiment for biological control of this disease. The spore concentration of 1×108spores per ml of antagonist gave highest disease inhibition percentage. Among three antagonists (viz. Candida utilis, Candida sake and Trichoderma harzianum), C. utiliswas the most effective compared to other two in reducing anthracnose disease, which was even better than currently used warm water treatment. It was also found that the application of the antagonists and warm water treatment before pathogen infection gave a better control than delayed application.
