AbstractThe effect of oil palm fly ash (OP F A) and mineral fertilizer application on yield and yield components of sweet corn and soil chemical properties were studied in ASE experimental farm, AIT. Chemical analysis of OPFA used in the experiment was conducted and t he results of OPFA analysis showed that it is highly alkaline (pH 12.27) and it contained high amount of Si, Ca, a nd relatively high amount of K, Mg, and P. The total content of (N+P 2 O 5 +K 2 O) in OPFA was higher than the minimum content for organic fertilizer specification developed by FAO, h owever, heavy metals (C a d mium, Copper , Lead ) content was far below the maximum content for organic fertilizer specifications developed by FAO, therefore the results indicated that OPFA is safe for using as one of organic fertilizers. F ield experiment was conducted in ASE experimental farm, AIT, during winter season of Thaila nd and six treatments (2t OPFA /ha, 4t OPFA /ha, 6t OPFA /ha, 200kgNPK/ha, 100kgNPK+2t OPFA /ha, and control) with three replications were assigned in randomized complete block design. Soil pH and nutrient content were increased with higher application rate of OPF A , and significant (1% level) increase in soil pH, and soil nutrients ( P, K, Mg ) w ere detected in 6t OPFA /ha treatment. The highest grain yield of 4220kg/ha was obtained in 100kgNPK+2t OPFA /ha treatment.
