Abstract | Under impacts of climate change, risks of drought increase and becomes a major challenge for Mekong Delta Vietnamwhere Tien Giang province is located.The droughtsituation is more complicated in recent years, especially in 2015-2016 period, Tien Giang province experienced a huge drought which caused a lot of damage in local livelihood. Therefore,a robust assessment about climate change impacts on drought is needed to establish suitable, effective drought adaptation strategies.This study will illustrate the process of assessing climate change impacts ondroughtand drought adaptation strategies analysisin Tien Giangprovince with thesefollowing steps: assessing the impact of climate change on drought in recent 30 year databy using slope trend and Standardized Precipitation Index; projecting futureclimate change impacts on drought by using data from 3 General Circulation Models which are ACCESS 1.3, CNRM-CM5 and MRI-CGCM3 under RCP4.5 and RCP 8.5 scenarios; analyzing policies and perception of local people through questionnaire and interview; analyzingexiting adaptation strategies andgiving potential adaptation strategies focused onhousehold level. |
