AbstractDuring recent years, Vietnam, a developing country, is one of the most rapidly developing economies of the world. Among its objectives, sustainable development is essential. Together with attaining some Millennium Development Goals such as reducing poverty, faster growth, improving quality of education, gender equality ... , Vietnam has been delivering more and more effort for its sustainable development. Today's heightened interest in the role of businesses in society has been promoted by increased sensitivity to and awareness of environmental and ethical issues. Issues like environmental damage, improper treatment of workers, and faulty production that inconveniences or endangers customers are highlighted in the media. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is closely linked with the principles of Sustainable Development and the wider aim of CSR is to create higher and higher standards of living while preserving the profitability of the corporation. The Construction industry is a large and diverse component of any economy. Its positive contributions for the social through many deliverables are undeniable. But there are still inadequacies inside the industry which has been criticized by lots of researchers. The author would like to conduct a research based on a case study and a survey to assess the attitudes and the awareness toward CSR in Vietnamese construction companies through their principles of conduct and evaluating the CSR performance. By the way, the author would like to discuss about some suggestion for CSR performance improvement and devote his effort in a hope that it may give a small contribution for enhancing CSR among construction companies in his beloved country
