Abstract | In acknowledged that the Global warming has caused many effects in the world, there are many reasons for the Global warming. Thus several countries are trying to find out a way to protect this world. Hence the concept of sustainable development has gained favor around whole world; many countries are considering this topic. In contrast, construction activities also contribute to the environment damages such as energy consumption, air pollution, and general waste and so on, thus the sustainable construction concept has been developed in order to follow the sustainable development understanding. Obviously the sustainable construction is the wide range concept, and it is rarely implemented in Construction Company nowadays. This thesis found how the construction companies in Thailand implement the existing practices of Environment Management System during construction stage. This study focuses on the main key issues of the Environment Management Plan in the construction company such as Air quality, waste and sewage management, water management, noise pollution, material and energy and electricity. This study has two case studies and both of the case studies are construction companies in Thailand which are applying the Environment Management System in their company. A qualitative research technique is used with in-depth interviews and observation is used to correct the data as much as possible. The research found the framework and the existing implemented process that follows the sustainable construction concept as the Environment Management System for each cases study. Therefore this thesis also found the benefits of implementing the Environment Management System during the construction phase of the large construction companies in Thailand, and also the reason encourages implementing Environment Management System in the construction company during the construction stage |
