AbstractNowadays in Myanmar, the political and economic reform process is well underway and there is burgeoning interest among foreign investors and it is distinctly probable the construction industry will become a primary beneficiary. But, the lacks of the expertise of the Myanmar construction companies is one of the major factors of prohibiting the entry of the FDI to the local market .Among them, the lack of the financial knowledge leads to the most hazardous conditions. This research aims to fulfill this gap for Myanmar construction industry by developing the applicable framework for the contractors. This study is the qualitative research to investigate the existing practice deeply. Based on the understanding of the existing weakness and strength, an applicable framework for financial management is built. By analyzing of the financial management practice under the combination of literature review and the existing practice, there are five major categories: Financial Function, Cash Flow Management, Inventory Management, Program Management, and Cost Performance. Under each category, there are sub-categories with the important attributes. The effectiveness and deficiencies of the existing practice are examined and the applicable framework is built.
