AbstractPrevious studies of empowerment concepts and implementation processes indicated only the conceptual implementations without mentioning practical methods for empowerment practices especially in construction industry . A framework including empowerment concept s studie d in this paper w as developed for better understanding and conceptualization of the study . Empowerment methods to empower the project teams for contractor organizations were developed based on management practices during each stage of project life cycle a nd empowerment strategies : Information, Training, Authority delegation, Work procedures, Feedback and Reward & Recognition . The empowerment climate factors : Support, Opportunity, Autonomy through boundaries, Information Sharing, Performance Accountability and Motivation, were assessed according to different construction type s : residential, commercial and industrial in Yangon City . The empowerment practices in different construction types showed no significant difference and empowerment climate of project teams are also similar for different type of construction. The results indicated that Myanmar construction industry is in need of improve d practices in m anagement methods to empower project teams. The research proved that there were relationship s between empo werment methods and empowerment climate factors: Autonomy through Boundaries, Information Sharing and Performance Accountability.
