Abstract | This thesis mainly studies about the infrastructural challenge s and the potential risks against it in an oil and gas indust ry. There are many stages from exp loration till abandonment in an oil and gas project. This research studies the facilities development stage of the onshore terminal in depth because there are more practical infrastructural issues in this stage which makes the study interesting. The onshore terminal must be constructed in habitat areas which is very challenging. This research mainly focusses on all the challenges that are faced by oil and g as industries in developing the onshore terminal and their mitigation measures. The analysis is done from three case studies in India. Qualitative analysis approach is selected for the research and interview is taken as the research instrument. Personnel f rom three case studies are interviewed and the case studies are analyzed individually and then cross case analysis is used to find similarities and differences to draw conclusions. The challenges encountered in the case studies are identified and the mitiga tion measures employed by them are analyzed and the constraints faced while practically implementing these mitigation measures are also analyzed which are useful for oil and gas industries. These challenges have many number of risks and each risk has impac t on the company. The impact of each risk on the company’s development of the onshore terminal is also identified. This research also focuses on suggesting useful recommendations for improvement and some key success factors from the experiences learnt from three case studies which have completed the development of onshore terminal facil ities in India. The analysis of each case study show that the major challenges encountered by oil and gas industries in India are (1) Regulatory approvals and Licenses (2) Land acquisition (3) Land development (4) Design and technological issues (5) Procurement and contracting strategy (6) Logistics (7) Competent manpower (8) Construction (9) Safety (10) Environment . E ach challenge has many risks and each risk is mitigated to reduce the impact. |
