AbstractIn spite of higher growth rate experience by construction industry in Sri Lanka during the post war period, data shows that number of registered contractors has been lowered during that period. Similar situations has been observed by many other researches around the world related to different industries and lack of understanding of entrepreneur regarding his role is the main reason behind this. Considering that, this study has been carried out to identify the entrepreneur’s role during the period of startup to stabilization of a construction company. Components of construction business entrepreneurship is identified through literature survey as the first step of this study. A conceptual framework was developed connecting identified components and it was validated through two experts. Semi structured interview survey was carried out to investigate entrepreneurs role along the growth of a construction company in Sri Lanka. The conceptual framework was used as the road map for interview survey.
