Abstract | For any industry to flourish effectively and successfully the study of organizational culture plays a major role. The success of an organization solely depends on organizational culture (Davis and Newstorm, 1993) and how people follow them. Success firms are distinguished apart from other firms by studying the organizational culture. Hence it is a key constituent and advantageous feature in benefitingthe success of a company. Organizational culture also maintains the stability and progressive continuity of a company. The term safety is neglected by many organizations to increase their profit in the past. The term safety culture came into limelight after the Chernobyl disaster in 1986. Over the past 30 years, safety has been given a priority to improve organizational and individual’s well-being. Many organizations have been promoting a healthy and positive safety culture to understand the past accidentsand also to avoid future risks. Promoting a healthy safety culture leads to improvement in safety performance. This study also provides a step towards the procedure of measuring and developing safety culture. Safety culture flourishes the organization’s reputation and also reduces the accident rate in an industry. In this study we observe what the terms organizational culture and safety culture actually mean and the relationship between elements of organizational culture and safety culture characteristics. |
