AbstractIn every country construction industry plays an important and vital role also the primary sector in the contribution for the successful economy and high growth rate as well as employment opportunities. Besides these advantages, construction industry is going through many consequences and one of the major problem that every country is ultimately facing is the risks in projects. In developing countries like India, building projects are exposed to various risks. This research focuses on the identification of the factors for risk management capability of contractors in metro projects. Using the stages of the risk management process the identified factors for risk management capability are grouped according to their respective stages they are: management attitude towards risk, organization culture in dealing with risks, risk identification and analysis capability, risk response capability and risk monitor and control capability. After the expert verification and pilot testing of questionnaire the questionnaire surveys were used to collect data. Data analysis is done using the Factor Analysis (Exploratory Factor Analysis) to group the factors. Relative ranking of the factors which made it possible to triangulate the relative importance of factors are calculated using mean scoring ranking technique through which the mean and weighting are given to the factors. After obtaining the weighting using the fuzzy synthetic evaluation method the membership function is used to know the risk management capability of the building contractors. At the end we can get to the risk management capability of each factor and group and finally the overall risk management capability of the building contractors. Key Words: Building Contractors, Risk, Risk Management, Risk Management Process, Management Attitude Towards Risk, Organization Culture In Dealing With Risks, Risk Identification Capability, Risk Analysis Capability, Risk Response Capability and Risk Monitor And Control Capability, Risk Management Capability.
