AbstractThis study presents the application of Mean-End Chain (MEC) theory in modeling customer styles in electronic transaction, i.e. factors like knowledge of the product counselors about products, services, customer behaviors and some other factors influence the choice of products. Analyzing the relationship between customers and products/services, Means-End approach helps identify the categories in concern of customers, visualizing the hidden motivation for the decision in product choices. Combining the MEC theory and logical programming, we developed a framework that describes the reasoning process of customers, from the view of counselors, to provide the customers with knowledge of product characteristics and uses, which helps liaise with the suitability of products to their demand. This framework would propose the reasoning stream accordingly with the thinking logic of customers based on the knowledge background they gained about the products. In the mentioned knowledge background, the relationship between characteristics and uses and the practical values of the products was formalized using Means-End model. This can help the customers with better knowledge of the product and its utility for a better choice of the products wanted.
