AbstractEnterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software brings many benefits to an organi¬zation, but commercial software is expensive. Smaller organizations may prefer free and open source solutions but are faced with an enormous array of options from different vendors. One software from scratch or to adopt a free and open source ERP framework. Moreover, ease of integration with legacy systems are also important for adopting ERP. To answer this question, this thesis contains comparison and evalua¬tion of frameworks, describes about integration between ERP, which was chosen, and legacy systems. The evaluation is about one of the most popular enterprise software development frameworks, JBoss Seam, and one of the most popular open source frameworks for ERP development, Apache Open for Business. Using a real-world application integration problem involving an asset management system and a General Ledger as a case study, the frameworks were compared along a number of dimensions. OFbiz is chosen for this thesis. Asset Management System and Integration Intermediary is implemented for supporting integration between OFBiz and Visual Foxpro(legacy system). The most advantage in terms of business process of this thesis is automated process improving for asset control with concurrency control. Regarding to this thesis, it can be found that the ERP framework, OFBiz, is the better choice for simple ERP development problems typically encountered in smaller enterprises. Besides the integration approach, web service is the most appropriate for integration among systems which use different types of database.
