Abstract | Several features have been integrated into a smartphone to enhance the functionality for users benefits. However, users still have the barrier that prevent them from using all features as they desired. The objective of this thesis is to find the method to minimizing restriction and to enable users to control the smartphone features as they want. By adapting the service composition methodology, I managed to design the executable framework in a mobile phone. There are 3 components, which are the users interface, the description file, and the execution environment. Users may design how to control the func- tion of their mobile phone in the users interface, by just drawing a flowchart-like diagram. The description is written from what users have drawn and the execution environment re- ceive that information to control the features in mobile phone. The implemented framework has been evaluated in both functionality and usability. For the functionality, I have created some scenarios and tried to use the framework to constuct the solution applicaiton, and the results are quite acceptable. The usuability is verified by checking the feedback from the participants after experiencing the users interface of the framework, and the result show that the interface is suitable for the task but still not reach the level of being user-friendly. |
