AbstractIn ray tracing, the concept of constructing multiple specialized acceleration structures in perspective space for each camera and light source can significantly reduce the number of ray-object intersection tests needed and consequently can increase the ray tracing performance. However, the more acceleration structures are constructed, the more construction time increases. Especially, the multiple acceleration structures would not be feasible for large scenes in which it would already take a long time to construct one acceleration structure alone. Therefore, to be able to benefit from increasing ray tracing performance obtained from the multiple acceleration structures in perspective space, the construction speed has to be improved. The main contribution of this thesis is to improve the construction speed by applying parallelization to exploit the extreme power of today’s GPU architecture
