Abstract | Significant amount of work have been done over the years, to study the scientific network, and analyze the pattern of scientific collaboration through co-authorship network and studyof knowledgeflow through citation network. Most of the studies have been done to revealthe patterns of collaboration with time, and show trend of collaboration patterns in differentresearchfields and different institutions. Also, numerous study have focused to show therelation between researchers’ position in network and usefulness and quality of publication.Collaboration across the organizations is getting more important in the global era, but col-laboration within the organizations is also of utmost important, in order to understand andstrengthen the organizations to make them survive in the competitive condition. Thus, aimof this study is analyzing the collaboration pattern and knowledgeflow within a researchorganization, for which we have collected bibliographic data (co-authorship and citation) be-longing to an institute. We created two networks, co-authorship network from co-authorshipdata and knowledgeflow network from citation data to study about the collaboration andknowledgeflow within a research community, respectively. Using various metrics of socialnetwork analysis (SNA) and visualization it was possible to unleash different structures andtopology of networks and identify important individuals in the target research institution. |
