Abstract | As parents get busier and busier, and families ever more far flung, the need for assistancein taking care of their children is increasing. There is a trend in modern social roboticstoward household appliances. On the other hand, as robotics evolve, robots are obtainingricher functionality and robotic systems are becoming much more complex. It is believedthat robots can be used as parental assistants. This thesis proposes a low cost child mon-itoring robotic system connected to a cloud that has capabilities for child detection, childtracking, cry signal processing, child entertainment, alerting parents if anomalous behavioris found. Also it facilitates video interaction between a child and a parent. The purpose ofthe proposed work is to augment the parents ability to ensure the safety and security of thechilds environment. |
