Abstract | Over the years, electricity has become an essential commodity in our modem society and power demand around the world has been increasing day by day. And as a result, power engineers and planners have been doing everything to meet these increasing customer demands. It is known that, much of the world's electricity is generated by burning fossil fuels which emits greenhouse gases (GHG) which contributes to global wanning and climate change. On the other hand, our electric power grid is becoming increasingly complex and interconnected. Presently, our power system has been facing number of problems and challenges even in advanced and highly reliable power system in the world. Therefore, it is very important to develop and design a power system which makes the best use of available natural resources in a sustainable manner and addresses the current need of electricity. In this regard, the issues of sustainability have to be reconsidered in developing future power grid which can address the constraints that could be attributed from environmental, economical, social and technological aspects |
