Abstract | In this thesis, optimally placed Static Var Compensator (SVC) devices have been proposed to reduce the total system loss and enhance the voltage profiles. The placement of SVC in Vietnam 500kV power system is determined by using the sensitivity based method. The optimal size of SVC is determined to achieve the total minimum system loss. Contingency analysis with different line outages has been implemented. The simulation results recommend that 500MV Ar SVC should be installed at the Phu Lam substation in 2010 so that the total loss of the system will be reduced significantly. All voltage profiles of the system are well within acceptable limits. |
